Welcome to TADO-BEAT-Blog!

This blog is going to be all about our little Honda Beat, 'Beat-Chan'. Beat-Chan is a 1991 car who spent most of his life in Sapporo, Japan before coming to the UK 2 years ago. The longterm plan for Beat-Chan is to bring him up to superb condition. He's had a good and well looked after life and shows no signs of nasty rust or excessive wear.

Here's some general info about the Beat with the help of wikipedia!

* The Honda Beat is a mid-engined two-seat convertible kei car produced from in May 1991 to February 1996. The total number of cars produced was around 33,600.

* The number in the UK is unconfirmed but they are extreeeeeemely rare. We've never seen another since we bought him. There is however a great club for the cars: www.u-ukhbc.co.uk and plenty info available. Emily also has a really helpful little site with lots of info about her unique beat and buyers info here: wh1teleopards.tripod.com/. Ozsamurai's site is a wealth of info as well with some great pics in his galleries: http://members.lycos.co.uk/ozsamurai/

* The Honda Beat is a Kei Car - which means folk in Japan can own one if they dont own a parking space. Kei class cars have a lot of restrictions mostly on size and engine size (660cc!). The Beat is very small - see below pic!

* His rival cars were the Suzuki Cappuccino (which was available in the UK) and the wonderful Mazda AZ1.

* The Beat became the last car to be approved by Soichiro Honda before he
died in 1992.

* The design of the car originated from Pininfarina, who then sold the design plan to Honda, and then in turn sold it on MG Rover who used it to build the MG F.

* Honda Beats have a real cult following in Japan. They are very popular track cars with many events and races being held at weekends. A lot of different companies such as Honda Twin Cam, RS Mach, CozyLights, and Mugen specialise in Beat tuning and high performance parts.
